Red snake temple on Koh Samui
9 февраля 2023When it comes to the tourist attraction of Thailand, most people, as a rule, do not even remember the capital of the kingdom — Bangkok — but about the southwestern region of Phuket. It is there that the vast majority of tourist infrastructure facilities are located, bringing almost 75% of income to the state treasury. However, one of the structural components of the formation of the royal budget is the small island of Koh Samui, located in the middle of the Bay of Bengal, some 60 kilometers from the mainland.
It is believed that this piece of land is intended only for elderly tourists. Well, like, retirees from Australia or Japan who managed to save money for a trip around the world. On the one hand, yes — there are no «downhole» nightclubs, and a more or less large shopping center is present in the singular.
On the other hand, the pristine cleanliness of the local beaches, the absolutely incredible harmonious combination of the riot of colors of the local nature with the pacifying azure of the sea draws you to plunge into a state of relaxed meditation! No wonder this place is chosen by professional experts of the category Photographer in Koh Samui — there really is something to see, what to show and how to capture!
One of the most incredible attractions that this area is rightfully proud of is, of course, the famous “red temple” Wat Sila Ngu. In fact, the name so difficult to pronounce is translated very simply — the temple of the snake (serpents). Despite the fact that this is a “remake” built in the 30s of the last century, people sincerely believe that the holy remains of some ancient deities are stored there. And it is red simply because the bricks are made of clay, which was mined nearby and has a characteristic color.
Nevertheless, climbing these «golden» steps, and even accompanied by a professional wedding photographer, the heart stops forever! And then these artistic pictures can be reviewed again and again, experiencing slightly forgotten emotions and causing the «white envy» of friends and acquaintances.
So, if you suddenly manage to end up in Thailand, keep in mind that there is not only Bangkok and Phuket, but also the modest island of Koh Samui. And it is by no means intended only for the elderly — friendly gilded snakes in the form of railings joyfully welcome any guest, even if he is afraid of reptiles. At the same time, the red Buddhist temple Wat Sila Ngu is far from the only place that you need to see, as they say, “must see”!
